Over the weekend, Pittsburgh’s Jordan York hosted a celebration for his recent success.  The “Key To The City” event was presented by Nightfall Records and All In Events. It was held at The Boiler Room in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and was attended by a few hundred people. Those who were in attendance were treated to opening performances by Space Gang, Ace Money, Maddox of Anger Management, TK Kavi, Town Zero, Aaron Romeo, and Easily Distracted, while Chaotic Style held down the 1’s and 2’s.

While event goers were pleased with all of the great acts, they patiently waited for Jordan York to hit the stage. As the event approached it’s climax, York was escorted to the stage by two women donning bikinis. The crowd then went crazy and the bar was set from there.

Those in attendance that night saw York for the true entertainer he is, as he proved that he was more than just an emcee. His 30-minute set included some freestyles and songs like “Stay True” and “Can You Hear Me.” York also performed his brand new song “Kurt Angle.” “It’s a night to celebrate,” said York, “I wanted to give everyone a good night and I wanted to do something classy.” “It’s definitely Hip Hop, but at the same time I like to keep it classy and provide everyone that comes out a good time and make them feel like they are a part of something, because they are,” said York.

“I just let loose on stage and I just want to leave people with an impression that they got their money’s worth and why they should come out and see me again,” said Jordan York. “I rap about real life stuff and I’m just a normal guy chasing my dreams. I don’t want to be recognized for the flashy jewels or the clothes I wear, I want to be recognized for grinding hard and achieving my dreams,” said York.

Below we have our questions and Jordan’s candid answers.  Check it out and be sure to peep the “Pittsburgh Song” video further below.

The Roundtable Empire: “Are you originally from the Pittsburgh?”

Jordan York: “No, I was born in Miami, Florida but have lived in Pittsburgh since I was 2 years old.”

The Roundtable Empire: “When did you first hit the music scene?”

Jordan York: “I did my first show in 2010 at a club in the Strip District in Pittsburgh.”

The Roundtable Empire: “What was it about the music industry that lured you to it?”

Jordan York: “Just being able to express myself and the art of hip hop is an amazing thing.”

The Roundtable Empire: “How would you describe your sound?”

Jordan York: “I would say my style is unorthodox. I definitely listen to a lot of old school music.”

The Roundtable Empire: “Who are your musical influences?”

Jordan York: “I listen to the pioneers, ODB a lot of old school rock, I don’t really have influences I just try to make my own sound.”

The Roundtable Empire: “Why the Pittsburgh Song? What was the idea behind it?”

Jordan York: “The idea behind it was to tell a story about all the people that played/play a part in the Pittsburgh culture and history. Everyone wants to make a Pittsburgh anthem but I wanted to give a history lesson on everyone who is someone from our city.”

The Roundtable Empire: “How do you feel about the current state of Hip Hop in Pittsburgh?”

Jordan York: “It’s cool, a lot of talented artists in this city. With Wiz and Mac gaining national attention it really opens a lot of doors for artists.

The Roundtable Empire: “What’s next for Jordan York?”

Jordan York: “I don’t like to talk much, I just like to do, but I’ve got some movie I have a role in coming up called Hidden Agenda and working on my album as well as some big shows. So be on the look out for that!”
