Be on the lookout for this talented rapper as I’m sure there is much more to come.

[Hip Hop News Now] Jay La’Mont Keeps It Foolishh, Drops New Visual “Stay Positive”

Jay La'Mont

Western Pennsylvania emcee Jay La’Mont is a young man with a very wise mentality. The 20 year old rapper knows that it is going to take more than just some clever bars to take him to the next level. The Johnstown native is working hard to not only create great music, but to build his Genius Society movement as well.  Jay recently dropped his Before The Genius EP which was well received. Below you can watch a video to one of the standout tracks from the EP, “Stay Positive.”

Jay is known for his trippy lyrics and positive vibes, but many don’t realize that he is also the guy behind many of the beats that he is dropping 16’s on. His Kanye West like talents have already placed him in a lane of his own. With that being said, it is not a real shocker that Kanye is one of Jay’s musical influences. However, Jay La’Mont’s musical influences are very broad, which is another great example of why his music does not fit in any particular niche. His wide-ranging influences include artists like Kanye West, Travis Scott, Wiz Khalifa, Wale, Snoop Dogg, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Jimi Hendrix and The Beatles.  You can also catch him on any given day vibing to the sounds of George Clinton, Prince, and Eric Clapton. “I’m into music period. All of it is incorporated into my music,” said Jay. “It’s hard to really define my sound because it is so diverse.”

The Before The Genius EP is definitely an eargasm waiting to happen. The 12-track EP features production by Jay and it includes dope tracks like “Fly Away,” “Said And Done,” and “Open Your Mind.”

“I wanted to create music that would reflect the brand,” said Jay, “Before The Genius is the beginning of our story, from there I am going to continue to build on this.  Soon I’ll be dropping the next chapters to the story.” “This is going to be crazy, almost like a movie.”

[Hot New Music!] Royal Dutchie – They Don’t Love Me No More (Download & Stream Mixtape)

Royal Dutichie Logo

The connection between music and marijuana is just as visible as it is loud. The “Stoner Movement” is all the more evident with marijuana becoming more commercial and states now legalizing the recreational drug. More recently the movement has become a culture; and within this culture you can find Pennsylvania emcee and cannabis advocate Royal Dutchie. The Johnstown native is truly dedicated to the marijuana movement and exhibits this not only through his highly addictive fashion line, but through his music as well.

Today, Royal Dutchie premieres his debut solo mixtape, They Don’t Love Me No More, via The Roundtable Empire. The mixtape is jam-packed from beginning to end with bangers and head nodders. They Don’t Love Me No More is a nice blend of both, original beats and industry heaters. The project features his 56 & Runnin’ family members Chris DeVille, TEN/27, D. Ess, and LeRon. The mixtape also features production by Jay Beats, vocals by Jei-Laya, and some tough bars by Q.

“The mixtape is based off two parts of my life,” said Royal Dutchie. “The first half of my life I was in a situation that I really didn’t need to be in. The mixtape starts off with how I’m moving on from that situation and then it goes into where I just transformed into ‘I don’t really give a f@ck about what anybody thinks’. It’s some real life sh!t. Almost less of a mixtape and more of a story.”

DutchieMixtape

“The name of the mixtape came about from me spazzing on that “They Don’t Love Me No More” beat. I also felt like it fit because there ain’t no love in the city. I mean all the rappers in the city, they don’t love me no more. Everybody that was in the whole movement with 56 & Runnin’. You felt like my niggas didn’t rock with me. Like they thought I was out here by myself. So They Don’t Love Me No More was the proof, like, my niggas is still riding with me. I got all my niggas on the mixtape…all of them. It’s really playing off the theme “They Don’t Love No More,” but in reality I got all the love.”

“Right now for me it’s all about the business and building my brand, however, Royal Dutchie is more than a brand. This is how I live,” said Royal Dutchie.

“Half these m@therf&ck%rs in the industry smoke trees…even the ones who don’t openly admit to it. It’s just what it is. Marijuana is taking over. Sh!t, the whole marijuana movement is taking over. Not just in the Hip Hop culture…it’s becoming a norm,” said Royal Dutchie. “I believe within ten years marijuana will be legal federally. Until then, I’m dreaming outrageous.”

Be on the lookout for Royal Dutchie’s upcoming album entitled Reasonable Suspicion, set to drop in April of next year.

[Hip Hop News Now] ‘Silence The Violence’ Event Brings Positivity To Johnstown

Screen Shot 2015-03-07 at 7.48.58 PM

Last night’s ‘Silence The Violence’ event held in Johnstown, Pennsylvania was a huge win for the city’s Hip Hop scene. Over 200 people came out to support the positive event brought to the city by 8 One 4 Us. Not only did folks have a great time, but also importantly, no violence took place at the event. The audience saw great performances last night by local artists D-Ess, Kim King, Club Fresh, and 56 & Runnin’ Ent. artist TEN/27.

R&B artist Ambition, formerly 4Play of Pretty Ricky, was also in attendance. His performance sent all the ladies in the building to the front of the stage, especially as he ended his set shirtless. The highlight of the night, however, was when Grammy award winning artist Mr. Cheeks came through and shut the whole scene down with his performance. Mr. Cheeks got the crowd out of their seats and on the dance floor when he performed a medley of his and the Lost Boyz greatest hits. The audience got to hear songs like “Renee,” Lights, Camera, Action,” and “Music Makes Me High” to name a few.

All in all, the event was a huge success for the city of Johnstown. The Roundtable Empire was very proud to be a supporter of the positive event. Shout out to TEN/27 (Trevy Is Famous) for getting us involved.  Check out some pictures from the ‘Silence The Violence’ event below.

Be sure to stay tuned to The Roundtable Empire for stories like these and more. #WhereRoyaltyMeetsLoyalty

[Hip Hop News Now] Local Drummer David Myers Jr. Proves That Dreams Do Come True

DMJ

For every great talent that we encounter there is another talented person waiting for their moment to take a seat at the throne. Let me introduce you to a hard working young man that will soon be able to speak on his view from the top. David Myers Jr. is a phenomenal drummer from Johnstown, Pennsylvania who is making a name for himself in the music industry.

I recently spoke to David, who is currently living in Los Angeles, and we spoke about everything, from growing up in Western Pennsylvania to earning a spot in Frank Ocean’s band. The journey of David Myers’s Jr. is definitely an inspirational one. He is a true testament that your dreams don’t have to end when you wake up.

Myers

Life is all about decisions and with great reward there is always great risk. David’s risk was leaving the “friendly city” of Johnstown and heading to the big city of Los Angeles. David journeyed out to L.A. to attend Musicians Institute, a training institution geared towards the performing arts. David decided to apply for Musicians Institute because of what they had to offer. The city of Los Angeles was also very attractive to David because of the opportunities that the city presents. However, a BET commercial was the deciding factor for him. David said that in this commercial a young man spoke about how he went to this same performing arts school to playing in Mariah Carey’s band. A journey very similar to David’s because in just three months into attending Musicians Institute David was contacted by Frank Ocean’s producer. The producer was putting together a band for Frank Ocean and saw David’s work online. From there David got the opportunity to audition for both Frank Ocean and his producer. Two weeks later David got the call that he had earned a spot in the band.

David Myers Jr

As a member of Frank Ocean’s band David traveled all across the globe. He performed in Germany, Denmark, Russia, Norway, Paris, Amsterdam, Australia, and Iceland playing for crowds as large as 20,000 people. During his first year with the band David experienced a very special highpoint, playing behind Frank Ocean as he performed on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live. That very next year David also appeared on the Arsenio Hall Show as he played the drums behind musical guests 2 Chainz and Chrisette Michele.

This past fall David spent time touring with Norwegian electronic band Lemaitre. After completing his education at Musicians Institute, the 22-year old has been spending his time building his brand as his talent continues to grow and mature. His inspiration, however, has changed in recent years. It’s the “aspiring musician” that gives Myers his inspiration. When I asked David what advice he had for the aspiring musician trying to make his or her dreams a reality. He replied, “Honestly, go for your dreams. Everyone fails, but it’s a part of winning.”

David Myers Jr. is a true talent and a humbled young man. He reminds me of a young Questlove, but his potential may just take him to unchartered territories that even Questlove himself couldn’t imagine. We at The Roundtable Empire salute David and look forward to covering his journey for years to come.

[Special Event] ‘Silence The Violence’ Event Hosted By Mr. Cheeks

Silence The Violence

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr said it best, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”  In recent times this nation has been plagued with a racial tension that is devastating this country.  Injustice and violence is happening all across this nation, in a neighborhood near you.  More and more lives are being taken, by the hands of not only the law, but by the people we know of in our own community. In the city of Johnstown, Pennsylvania they are taking a stand in an attempt to “Silence The Violence”.

This special event will be hosted by Grammy Award Winning hip hop artist Mr. Cheeks of the Lost Boyz. It will also feature special performances by Ambition (formerly 4-Play of Pretty Ricky), TEN/27 [Trevy Is Famous], Kim King, D-Ess, and Club Fresh. The purpose of the event is to raise awareness of the violence that has been plaguing the streets and how the community can come together and help silence the violence in their streets. Members of the Johnstown N.A.A.C.P. will be present and the branch President will speak on how violence is affecting the community of Johnstown. Mr. Cheeks himself will also speak on how he was effected by violence. This event is presented by”8-ONE-4 Us” in collaboration with The Roundtable Empire and On My Hip Hop Ish.  Tickets can be purchased in advance on our website.
