As we continue to patiently wait for Weezy’s album to release we have seen a lot unfold between Wayne and Birdman. Oh and we can’t forget the supporting actors like Young Thug during this Hip Hop drama. Since the debacle of Cash Money, there has been lawsuits, copycat albums, and even a shot up tour bus. When will it all stop? When will we finally get to hear Wayne’s new album that has since been retitled, Freezy Weezy???
Well, last night Lil Wayne took the stage at the Bay Area’s KMEL Summer Jam and announced, “I just signed a deal with my motherf**king idol, Jay Z”. The audience went crazy, but it left me and other Hip Hop heads with even more questions. Like, could he be referring to Jay Z‘s streaming service TIDAL, or did he actually sign with Roc Nation? All of these are valid questions, especially with Wayne still being singed to Cash Money. I guess only time will tell.
Check out the snippet of Lil Wayne making his announcement below.
UPDATE: Lil Wayne wasn’t referring to his signing on the dotted line with Jay Z regarding a record deal, but rather a deal with TIDAL that he signed earlier this month, making him the newest co-owner of the recently relaunched streaming service.
Yesterday Chicago native Vic Mensa dropped the visual to his latest single “U Mad” featuring fellow Chi-town native Kanye West. The Roc Nation artist has been hard at work with Kanye as they have been touring together for most of the year. Things are starting to move fast for Vic as he works to create his own lane with his debut album, Traffic, which should be released by the end of the year. For now, check out Vic’s first video since signing to the Roc and let us know what you think.
Earlier this year, The Game announced that The Documentary 2 will be released June 30, 2015. Recently The Game unveiled a trailer for “The Making of The Documentary 2, Part II.” The trailer takes a look at the culture that appears to be in a current State of Emergency. In a time of social unrest, Reel Culture Media takes a stand in solidarity with the revolutionaries, activists, and protesters of today. The social justice system has failed our generation time and time again, and police brutality has reached a fever pitch. When your neighborhood becomes a warzone, and it is your friends and family being gunned down by the police, who’s side will you take? In this short trailer for “The Making of The Documentary 2, Part II” we explore both sides of the conflict; will you have peace, or will you rise against oppression with force? The choice is yours.
Yesterday The Game was arrested as he turned himself in to the Los Angeles Police Department for allegedly throwing a punch at an off-duty officer during at a pickup basketball game in March. The incident was caught on video and posted online. The Game posted $50,000 bail about an hour later.
Who is Ed Sheeran? Sheeran is an English singer-songwriter and musician who is killing the game right now. In 2012 Sheeran took his talents to the Us with a guest appearance on Taylor Swift’s fourth studio album, Red, and wrote songs for One Direction. Currently Sheeran is broadening his horizons and blending genres like whoa. This week audiences had the chance to get acquainted with Ed as he shared a story of collaborating with Rick Ross and an even better Jay Z and Beyonce story. Sheeran has also been very busy this week covering some of your favorite songs.
Here we have yet another just recently released performance of Sheeran taking on Fetty Wap’s hit single “Trap Queen.” The acoustic cover is Hip Hop unplugged and perhaps at its best. Backed by The Roots, Sheeran makes this look easy and with something as simple as this, Hip Hop takes another step forward. Check out Sheeran and The Roots takle Fetty Wap’s “Trap Queen” below and let us know what You think.
Meek Mill is back at it with yet another banger. The MMG emcee looks like he is attempting to make good for making Hip Hop miss him during his time in incarceration. His latest effort, “Check,” is a Metro Boomin and Southside-produced record that puts him one step closer to this year’s throne. However only time will tell if Meek can make this his summer and take that seat.
Listen to Meek Mill’s new heater, “Check,” below and be sure to let us know what you think. Share your comments below or check us out on Facebook and/or Twitter.
Will Meek regain his stride in the race to the top?

So far this year we have heard a lot of good music by some of our favorite artists. Included in the best of 2015 is Future’s “Commas,” which is most definitely one of this year’s standout tracks. “Commas” originally appeared on Future’s 2014 mixtape, Monster, and has continued to make waves ever since. Now for your listening pleasures Future has decided to remix the official single.
Future enlists the help of MMG’s Rick Ross and Roc Nation’s Big Sean for the remix. Both emcees blessed the Southside’s instrumental and have officially just added some commas somewhere. The remix doesn’t give us any new verses from Future, but how can you go wrong with adding Big Sean and Rick Ross to your already certified banger? Check out the “Commas” remix below and let us know what you think.
Jeezy has come along way with his rap career and he has no signs of back tracking now. Since his latest LP, Seen It All, debuted at #2 on the Billboard charts Jeezy has been busy putting in that work and has appeared on bangers like Y.G.’s Top 20 hit, “My N*gga”.
Well, surprise, surprise. Last night Jeezy with the help of some of Hip-Hop’s brightest stars dropped a surprise mixtape, Gangsta Party. This mixtape is due to make your Memorial Day Weekend that much hotter with features that include DJ Drama, YG, and Rich Homie Quan.
The long awaited reunion of Roc-A-Fella took place last night at Jay Z’s 2-night special event, Tidal B-Sides. The very special event took place in hope to silence the critics of Jay Z’s new streaming service, Tidal. The new platform has been under fire since its launch just a few months ago. Hov has been standing strong on his defense of Tidal and has even taken to social media to quiet the haters. At this point it was time for Jay Z to start exhibiting why he is in a lane all by himself.
Last night’s Tidal B-Sides event was epic as Hova performed a set of songs he rarely performs and artists like Beanie Sigel, Freeway, Memphis Bleek, and the Young Gunz joined him on stage to solidify the event. With the big lights and all eyes on Jay Z last night he took the time to release a new freestyle in which he ripped Spotify and Youtube apart. Check out the freestyle below and stay tuned for details to Tidal B-Sides’ night 2.
T.I. has been very successful as an emcee and even better at keeping his family together. The self-proclaimed “King of the South” can be seen on television in front of the cameras putting his spin on the 2k15 version of Cliff Huxtable. He and his family are from the Huxtables, but together they are the modern day african-american family. Recently Tip and his son Domani exchanged some pretty funny Instagram posts and it looks like somebody got roasted. Check out the hilarious social media battle below and let us know who you think won.
