New Jersey native Fetty Wap has been a hip hop trending topic this year due to his breakthrough single “Trap Queen.” The hit single has been in steady rotation on the radio and in the clubs. It has also found a home on Billboard’s Top Ten where it is currently sitting at #3. Up next for Fetty Wap is his follow up single “My Way.” The new single looks like it will keep Fetty Wap in the fast lane this summer and to gas things up October’s Very Own Drake has added a verse to it. Drake is known for hopping on the next best thing and taking tracks to all new heights…and that is exactly what just happened here.

The 13-track album features some southern heavy hitters with Young Dolph, T.I., and Boosie Badazz blessing the project. Rich Gang lead man Birdman is also featured on the album, appearing on two tracks.

It’s the weekend, so that means there had to be a FREESTYLE FRIDAY somewhere. DJ Clue never lets us down and this past Friday he nabbed Brooklyn emcee Fabolous to turn out an oldie but goodie. The New York rapper grabs the instrumental to Mobb Deep’s epic 1999 hit record “Quiet Storm” and puts his own spin on it.

In a recent article, 56 & Runnin’ Ent. artist Chris DeVille sat down with The Roundtable Empire to discuss his new mixtape, Don’t Worry I’ll Wait. Today listeners can Stream & Download his highly anticipated mixtape for free. Don’t Worry I’ll Wait is hosted by Pittsburgh’s DJ Afterthought and features Royal Dutchie, Lady Homi, Jay Lamont, and R&B singer Emanny. More importantly, it guides listeners to where Hip Hop is going, but don’t take my word for it. The timing couldn’t have been any better for the release of Zeke Thomas’ new track titled “Blackness”. The much needed track dropped via Tommy Boy Entertainment, which is home to not only Zeke, but to other artists like Ghostface Killah and Jamar Rogers. The “Blackness” track is a humble dedication to civil rights and the fight for equality. The single also gets a very special feature by Public Enemy’s Chuck D and Pittsburgh emcee and community activist Jasiri X.
An official video is set to drop later this month for “Blackness”. Until then, stream the song below and as always, let us know what you think.
We still may be a little confused on whether Drake’s latest project is actually an album or a mixtape, but in either case his unexpected release debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late did better than any other release this year, aside from Taylor Swift’s 1989.
According to Billboard, the OVO delegate sold 495,000 copies during the first week. It was a slight disappointment because of its predicted 500,000 sales target, but at the end of the day it was a huge win for Drizzy.
Many people believed that Drake would have released this project for free, however, with it going retail it may have been a ploy by Drake to speed up his departure time from Cash Money Records. Drake is still diligently hard at work on his album, Views From The 6, which will be out later this year, and will reportedly be the final release needed to meet his 5 album deal with Birdman and Cash Money Records.
Stay tuned to the drama known as Cash Money Records by staying connected with The Roundtable Empire. #TakeASeatAtTheTable
